Really, Publishers Weekly, if you want literature then go read literature. It is possible for people to have interesting, important things to say without having to be a budding Hemingway. No one expects a course in creative writing from a book such as this one, and they're not going to get it. From this book they'll get an honest and interesting glimpse into a world that most us view with fascinated horror, from a dedicated physician and public servant who just wants to do a good job and is obviously successful at it. Dr Cataldie is simply too humble and has too much respect for those under his professional wing to be concerned with creating suspense and writing in impressive prose. I get the feeling he would consider that as somehow taking advantage of the suffering of his "patients" and their families. Here is an honest person and professional who has real real-life stories to tell and does it very well. I really liked this book and would buy another by the author in an instant.
